About royalty distribution to members
- NCB's distributions (payment of royalties)

WHEN do I get ROYALTIES from NCB?
NCB distributes royalties to members four times a year: March (primarily online royalties), June, September (primarily online royalties) and December.
Can I get an ADVANCE for the sales my new CD has generated lately?
Sorry, no advance payments are possible. Payments are made only with our regular distributions in June and December.
I am the HEIR of an NCB member. How do I get payment from NCB?
If you are the heir of a deceased NCB member you should contact your national performing rights society and prove you are the rightful heir. NCB's files will be updated accordingly.
Can NCB tell me if the ADVANCE I got from my PUBLISHER has been covered by my NCB royalties by now?
Sorry, you have to check that yourself from your NCB royalty statements. When the advance has been covered, NCB will be notified by the publisher when we shall pay royalties directly to you.
My new CD was released on a MAJOR RECORD COMPANY a month ago. When can I expect to receive money from NCB?
Major record companies are usually signatories to NCB's standard contract. They report and pay for sales effected during the previous calendar half-year. Sales of a CD released in January will be reported to NCB in September for the period from January up to and including June - and royalties due to you will be paid in December.
My new CD was released on a SMALL RECORD COMPANY a month ago. When can I expect to receive money from NCB?
Small record companies usually do not have a standard contrat - they pay on manufacture. Provided that the company has paid NCB's invoice, you may expect to receive your money with the next NCB distribution.
HOW MUCH NCB royalty does one sold copy of my CD generate?

NCB royalties are calculated as 9.009% of the price charged to the retailer (excluding VAT). A full price CD will generate total royalties of approximately DKK 9 - less NCB's commission.

What is COMMISSION - and who gets the commission that NCB deducts from my royalties?

The commission that NCB deducts from the royalties we send you is supposed to cover NCB's costs and expenses involved in our daily work: Colleting royalties on behalf of our members.

The commission rates are approved by NCB's Board of Directors under due consideration to international agreements in this area. The commission rates may vary depending on type of product ("collection group").

I know my CD reached only low sales. But I NEVER GOT ANY ROYALTIES from NCB.
Payment is made only when the balance of your NCB account exceeds DKK 500.00 (transfer to any foreign bank account) or DKK 100.00 (transfer to Danish bank account only).
HOW MUCH MONEY can I expect to receive with the next NCB distribution?
NCB royalties are coming from various sources and sometime just in time to be included in the upcoming distribution. Consequently, we cannot tell you the royalty amount due to you until the distribution has been processed.
What exactly are NCB ROYALTIES?

When your music is reproduced and sold as CD, DVD, MC, vinyl record, ringtone, MP3 file or WMA file you are entitled to what is calle "mechanical royalties" from NCB.

From the royalty statement you receive from NCB - when we transfer money to you bank account - you can see all details as to recordings, record companies, titles etc that are included in the royalty payment to you.

I became an NCB member 2 months ago. Can NCB collect royalties for CD's released in Denmark and Portugal last year?
If we already collected royalties on the said recording you will receive them with our next distribution. If royalties have not been collected by us or our sister society abroad, you will probably have to collect the money yourself from the record company that release your CD.
