If you want to distribute music as ringtones, you will need a joint ringtones licence agreement from NCB and the national performing rights society (see "Contacts" below). It is the owner of the ringtones service who should apply to take out the licence agreement.
The joint ringtones licence agreement covers exclusively the copyrights owned by the composers, lyricists and music publishers. Consequently, you may have to obtain additional permissions.
Some songs cannot be licensed for ringtones - see details below under the heading "Music not available for ringtones".
Depending on the territory for which you want to take out a licence you can find your relevant contacts here:
Please note that a number of composers have specifically excluded their music from being used as ringtones. Obviously such exclusions CANNOT be licensed by NCB.
Below you will find two identical lists of the titles that can never be cleared for ringtones. The first list is sorted by title, the second list by name of composer.
Below you will find two identical lists of the titles that can never be cleared for monophonic and polyphonic ringtones. However, it is possible to clear the music for truetones ringtones. The first list is sorted by title, the second list by name of composer.
The lists will be updated on a regular basis according to the information we receive. If you have any queries regarding the lists, please contact NCB on telephone (+45) 33 36 87 00.
